News Capsule: FCI Successfully Sells 92% Wheat in Third Tender
★ In the third tender, FCI sold 92,000 tons of wheat out of the 100,000 tons allocated for sale.
★ Wheat sales took place broadly in proportion to the quantities allocated to Punjab, Assam, and other states.
★ Punjab, Haryana, and Assam saw near-complete sales of their allotted quantities.
★ In the first tender, sales reached only about 42% of the 200,000 tons offered. This time, FCI allocated just 100,000 tons for sale, of which around 40% was earmarked for Punjab and Assam.
★ As per portal data, wheat from Punjab was cleared at prices ranging between ₹2,600 and ₹2,750 per quintal. In the first tender, Punjab wheat cleared at ₹2,550–2,655, while in the second tender it was ₹2,550–2,665 per quintal.
★ According to market sources, the strong lifting ratio suggests that weekly wheat tender quantities could be increased in the coming days. The lower allocation this time may have been aimed at gauging actual market conditions.
★ FCI sold 4,000 tons of wheat out of the 5,300 tons offered from Uttar Pradesh, indicating that wheat supply in Uttar Pradesh remains comfortable. In the third tender, wheat from Uttar Pradesh was cleared at ₹2,659–2,772 per quintal.
★ From Delhi, the entire 4,000-ton quantity was sold at prices ranging between ₹2,721 and ₹2,740 per quintal.
★ IGrain India believes that, considering the outcome of these tenders, weekly sale volumes may be increased in the future, and there could also be a review of the per-miller purchase limits.
