News Capsule: Mozambique: Target to Increase Production of Pulses and Other Major Crops in 2025/26
★ Mozambique has announced higher production targets for all major crops in the 2025/26 agricultural season. The government is focusing not only on pulses but also on cereals, cashew, and other key crops.
Key Targets
★ Pulses (pigeon pea, chickpea, moong, and others): 929,000 tonnes (increase from last year)
★ Cereals: 3.4 million tonnes, a 7% rise
★ Cashew nuts: over 180,000 tonnes, a 13% increase
★ Soybean: Increased production to support the poultry sector
★ In the previous season, Mozambique also performed well, recording a 9% rise in cereals and a 7% increase in pulses.
