Paddy procurement in Chhattisgarh reached 50 lakh tonnes
The paddy procurement in Chhattisgarh has reached 50 lakh tonnes, according to the Food Department. The situation is improving as rice millers, who had previously declared a strike, are returning to operations. There has been a steady increase in registrations, permission contracts, and milling contracts for rice mills.
As of now, the procurement statistics are as follows:
Raipur division: 14.52 lakh metric tonnes
Bilaspur division: 9.76 lakh metric tonnes
Durg division: 17.79 lakh metric tonnes
Bastar division: 4.13 lakh metric tonnes
Surguja division: 3.80 lakh metric tonnes
The total procurement target for this season is set at 160 lakh tonnes. Additionally, 2133 millers have applied for custom milling, out of which 1672 have been registered. Distribution orders of 3.37 lakh metric tonnes of paddy have been issued to these registered millers.
