This paddy procurement was made from 2,304,629 farmers across the country, and its total value at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) is estimated at ₹656.81 billion.
It is worth noting that the Central Government has fixed the MSP for paddy for the 2025-26 season at ₹2,369 per quintal for the general category and ₹2,389 for the 'A' grade. This MSP is ₹69 per quintal higher than the 2024-25 season.
A total of 40,253 procurement centers have been opened nationwide for government procurement of paddy. Government procurement of paddy began in September in Tamil Nadu, in October in Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, and in November in states like Chhattisgarh.
Government procurement of paddy typically continues from October to June, encompassing both Kharif and Rabi seasons. This year, record acreage is expected to lead to a robust paddy production.
