Palm Oil Imports Seen Improving in November on Competitive Prices

Mumbai. Industry analysts say that palm oil imports increased slightly during November 2025, while soybean oil and sunflower oil imports declined slightly.
This was due to the competitive price of palm oil, which reduced Indian importers' interest in purchasing more expensive soybean and sunflower oil.
According to analysts, palm oil imports are expected to increase by 4.60 percent to 6.30 lakh tons in November compared to October,
while soybean oil imports are expected to fall by 12 percent to 4 lakh tons, and sunflower oil imports are expected to decline by 44 percent to 1.45 lakh tons, the lowest level in the last two years.
Reviews - Analysts predict that total edible oil imports into India during November 2025 will fall to around 1.150 lakh tons, which is 30,000 tons less than the total imports of 1.180 lakh tons in October.
High global market prices of soybean oil and sunflower oil are likely to reduce their imports. This estimated total edible oil import includes approximately 30,000 tonnes of duty-free soybean oil coming from Nepal through the border route.
According to a leading analyst, Indian buyers are trying to increase palm oil purchases for shipments in the coming months as it is currently available at a cheaper price of around $100 per tonne compared to soybean oil.
Palm oil imports are likely to increase further to around 750,000 tonnes in December 2025. The global market price of sunflower oil is around $200 per tonne higher than palm oil and around $100 per tonne higher than soybean oil, hence its imports are declining.
