Rajkot. There is a lot of arrival of cumin in Unjha Mandi, the benchmark trading center of Gujarat, and local dealers, Disawari traders and exporters are also showing good interest in buying it at lower prices.

As a result, despite the average daily arrival of 55-60 thousand bags, the prices of cumin are seeing limited fluctuations of Rs 100-125 per quintal.

According to trade analysts, the time of March closing is approaching, so traders are buying a good amount of cumin before that.

According to critics, although the sowing area of cumin at the national level decreased by about 15-20 percent during the 2024-25 season as compared to the 2023-24 season, but due to favorable weather conditions, its yield rate and quality are improving significantly, due to which the total production is expected to reach around the last season.

The record arrival of new goods in the markets of Gujarat indicates that there will not be any significant decline in the production of cumin this time.

The price of cumin in Unjha market was recorded at Rs 21,200-21,300 per quintal (Rs 4240-4260 per 20 kg) recently. This price level is quite attractive for the buyers, so they are buying it well.

The arrival of new cumin has also started increasing in the markets of Rajasthan, due to which its prices are not expected to rise sharply.

The market price may remain stable with limited fluctuations within a certain range. Almost the same situation will prevail till the end of March. If strong supply continues in April, then there may be pressure on prices.

But producers may try to hold their stock instead of selling their produce at a lower price. The sowing area of cumin in Gujarat decreased by about 15 percent from the previous season, but it was about 25 percent more than the normal average area.

The export performance of cumin is going well and foreign importers are showing a lot of enthusiasm in its purchase.

With the support of export demand, the price of cumin may remain stable or strong to a large extent in the domestic market.
