Record Soybean Production of Over 180 Million Tonnes Projected for Brazil

Brasilia: Conab, the government agency of the Latin American nation Brazil, has projected in its July report that total domestic soybean production for the 2025-26 season will surge to an all-time high of 180.56 million tonnes—an increase of 0.31 million tonnes over the June forecast.

According to the Conab report, the soybean planting area in Brazil expanded by 2.7 percent to a record 48.64 million hectares (120 million acres) during the 2025-26 season, while the average crop yield improved by 2.5 percent to reach 3,712 kg per hectare (155.3 bushels per acre). Consequently, soybean production rose by 9.08 million tonnes (or 5.3 percent) compared to the 2024-25 season, hitting a new record of 180.56 million tonnes for the 2025-26 season.

It is noteworthy that Brazil is the world's leading producer and exporter of soybeans and also exports vast quantities of soy oil and soy meal. India imports large volumes of soy oil from Brazil, while China is the largest buyer of its soybeans.

Harvesting of the 2025-26 soybean crop in Brazil concluded in May. A "soybean-free period" is currently in effect; this will continue until roughly September 10–15, after which planting for the new soybean crop will commence.
