New Delhi. On the special request of the state government, the Union Food Ministry has announced some relief in the terms and conditions and specifications related to the quality of wheat for government procurement in Rajasthan with some conditions.
According to a circular issued by the Union Ministry of Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, the wheat crop was affected by early heat / rain in all the districts of Rajasthan, due to which there is a possibility of deterioration in the quality of the grain.
In such a situation, with the aim of reducing the difficulties of the farmers, it has been decided to give relief in the uniform specification of wheat in the current Rabi Marketing Season of 2025-26, which will be valid for all the producing districts of the state.
Under this, the limit of the share of sticky or broken grains in the stock of wheat has been increased from the current level of 6 percent to 20 percent.
Similarly, the share of both damaged and partially damaged in the stock should not exceed 6 percent together. The amount of luster loss in wheat can be up to 10%.
The stock of wheat purchased under concessional rules should be kept separate from the stock of normal wheat.
If there is any defect or decrease in the quality of wheat purchased under concessional rules during storage, then the state government will be solely responsible for it.
Similarly, the wheat purchased under the exemption given in the rules and conditions will have to be removed on priority basis before the wheat of normal quality.
Not only this, but the wheat with this concessional specification will be used only within Rajasthan and it will not be sent out of the state.
If any financial loss or operational expenditure occurs due to this relief-concession, then the state government will have to bear it.
This time the weather conditions in many districts of Rajasthan were not completely favorable for the wheat crop, due to which the quality of its grain has been affected there.
In view of this, the Food Ministry has decided to give relaxation in the quality related rules and conditions for the purchase of wheat here.
