Moscow. With the start of the harvesting season of the new sunflower crop in Russia, its supply and availability is expected to increase regularly. Crushing processing units may face difficulty in using the old stock of sunflower seed and sunflower oil and DOC.

In view of this, the federal government has decided to temporarily suspend the export duty applicable on sunflower oil and sunflower cake (oil meal). Under this, no export duty will be levied on these two products till 31 August 2025.

It is worth noting that for the current month i.e. July 2025, the Russian government had imposed a customs duty of 4739.30 rubles (about $ 60) per tonne on the export of sunflower oil, while an export duty of about $ 17.4 or 1054.40 rubles per tonne was imposed on sunflower meal. Ruble is the name of the currency of Russia.

Russia is one of the leading producers and exporters of sunflower and its oil and DOC in the world. India is one of the leading producers and exporters of sunflower oil and DOC. Most of the sunflower oil in India is imported from Russia, while earlier Ukraine was its major supplier. Apart from this, sunflower oil is also imported from countries like Argentina and Romania.

The suspension of export duty will increase the competitiveness and shipment possibilities of Russian sunflower oil and oil meal in the global export market.
