Signs of Rising Soybean Production in South America

São Paulo. During the 2025-26 season, the total soybean production across the South American continent is projected to surge to approximately 250 million tons—a figure nearly double that of the United States' production.
Within this total, production is estimated at 179 million tons in Brazil and 48 million tons in Argentina. Furthermore, countries such as Uruguay and Paraguay are expected to produce an average of 10 million tons of soybeans each. The remainder of the production is accounted for by other nations in the region.
Brazil stands as the world's leading producer and exporter of soybeans. In Brazil, the harvesting process for this crop has reached its final stages and is expected to conclude within the next 10 days. It is noteworthy that a "soybean-free period" is set to commence in Brazil on May 15th, continuing until roughly September 15th.
During this specific interval, not a single living soybean plant is permitted to remain in the country. In Argentina, the soybean harvest is currently underway in full swing, whereas in other nations—including Uruguay and Paraguay—the main-season crop has already been harvested. India imports substantial quantities of soybean oil from both Argentina and Brazil.
