Treasury Secretary Bessent stated this morning that China is on track to complete its promised soybean purchases. Known purchases via USDA’s daily Export Sales system are just over 2.25 MMT, compared to the 12 MMT total commitments. These purchases are now expected to be completed by the end of February, instead of by year-end as previously suggested by administration officials.
USDA will release updated delayed Export Sales reports on Thursday. Traders expect 0.6–2 MMT of soybean bookings for the week of October 30. Initial indications of Chinese purchases (100,000 MT known) for that week are also expected. Soybean meal sales are estimated between 200,000 and 450,000 MT, and soybean oil sales between 5,000 and 25,000 MT.
Statistics Canada will publish the 2025/26 production estimates on Thursday morning, with traders projecting canola output around 21.25 MMT.
