Jaipur. The Rajasthan government is committed to providing pure and unadulterated food products to the common people and therefore it has launched a massive campaign against adulterated and fake spices.
On the instructions of the Medical and Health Minister, a state-wide campaign was launched on June 8 and under this, the stock of fake and adulterated spices was seized and samples of many brands were taken and preparations were made to send them to the laboratory.
According to senior official sources, samples were collected from some big spice companies and sent for laboratory testing.
Some of these samples were found unsafe for health. Keeping this in mind, a campaign to seize harmful or unsafe spices was launched in all the districts of Rajasthan on June 8 and under this, stock of more than 12,000 kg of spices was seized. Along with this,
samples of other spices of other companies' brands and big firms have also been taken. Now these samples will be sent to the laboratory for testing and further action will be taken on the basis of its report.
This strict government campaign has created panic in the spice companies and markets of Rajasthan. It is known that along with cumin and coriander,
some other spices are also produced on a large scale in Rajasthan, whereas spice companies import spices of other varieties from other states, process them and market them under their own brand name.
The state government suspects that some people are involved in the manufacture and business of fake and adulterated spices, hence strict action is required against them.
