ISMA: India's sugar production from October 1 to December 15 dropped by 17% compared to the same period last year. Key figures are: in lakh tons
Uttar Pradesh: 23.04 (up from 22.11)
Maharashtra: 16.78 (down from 24.45)

The decline is mainly due to delayed cane crushing, with Karnataka starting 7-12 days late and Maharashtra 15-20 days late. Additionally, the diversion of sugar for ethanol production is expected to rise to 40 lakh tonnes, compared to 21.5 lakh tonnes last year.
