The Roller Flour Millers Federation of India (RFMFI) released the Annual Wheat Survey Report 2026 yesterday.
★ The Food Secretary also attended the meeting.
★ The RFMFI President said that the wheat trade remained quite challenging last year, with significant price volatility observed.
★ Transportation and packaging costs increased last year, and due to ongoing global conflicts, freight costs rose further, reducing margins.
★ The government needs to bring transparency into the wheat trade.
★ Under OMSS, timely information should be provided on when, how much, and how wheat will be sold.
★ The government should regularly update wheat stock data on the portal so that the industry can operate accordingly.
★ Although wheat product exports were opened, there was no significant increase in exports because international prices remain very high.
★ To boost exports, the government should either provide freight support or offer export incentives.
