🚨 Water Crisis Alert: Reservoir Levels Drop Below 40% Across India

📉 National Reservoir Status (as of now):

  • 📦 Total capacity (161 major reservoirs): 182.375 BCM

  • 💧 Current water stock: 72.91 BCM

  • 📊 Current level< 40% of total capacity

  • ⚠️ 65% of reservoirs have less than 50% water

  • 🔥 Cause: High temperatures & insufficient rainfall


🗺️ Region-Wise Breakdown:

🌅 Eastern Region (27 reservoirs)

  • 📊 Water stock: 8.15 BCM (37.6% of 21.655 BCM)

  • 🌧️ Notable states:

    • Jharkhand: 53%

    • Meghalaya: 76%

    • Tripura: 57%

    • Mizoram: Reservoir almost dry


🛕 Central Region (28 reservoirs)

  • 💧 Water stock: 22.021 BCM (45% of 48.588 BCM)

  • 📍 Key states:

    • Madhya Pradesh: 49%

    • Chhattisgarh: 40%

    • Uttar Pradesh: 41%


🏔 Northern Region

  • ⚠️ Lowest water levels:

    • Uttarakhand: 31%

    • Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal: Only 23%


🌴 Southern Region

  • 🔽 Water stock: 36.5%

  • ⏳ Waiting for pre-monsoon rains


🏖 Western & Central Zone (Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat)

  • 💧 Water stock: 48%
