Groundnut prices fluctuate due to good arrivals and normal trading

New Delhi: Good arrivals of Kharif groundnut are being reported in major markets of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh, and government procurement at Minimum Support Price (MSP) is also underway. Millers and traders are also showing interest in purchasing. In line with supply and demand in the markets, groundnut prices fluctuated by Rs. 100 to Rs. 300 per quintal during the week of December 6-12.
Arrivals
In Gondal market of Gujarat, 50,000 bags of groundnut arrived on December 6 and 65,000 bags on December 12. However, due to good buying activity, the price increased by Rs. 250 to Rs. 5250/7000 per quintal. On the other hand, in Rajkot, despite a daily arrival of 10,000 bags, the price fell by Rs. 250 to Rs. 6000/7500 per quintal.
Rajasthan
In Jodhpur, Rajasthan, the price of groundnut remained stable at Rs. 6000/6500 per quintal, but in Bikaner, it fell by Rs. 200 to Rs. 5300 per quintal. In Solapur, Maharashtra, the price was recorded at Rs. 7600.
Uttar Pradesh
A mixed trend was observed in the markets of Uttar Pradesh. The price of groundnut improved by Rs. 100 to Rs. 5300/5900 per quintal in Jhansi and increased by Rs. 200 to Rs. 5200/6000 per quintal in Mauranipur, but decreased by Rs. 300 to Rs. 5000/5700 per quintal in Mahoba market. The average daily arrival of groundnut was recorded at 10-15 thousand bags in Jhansi, 20 thousand bags in Mahoba, and 2000 bags in Mauranipur market.
Groundnut Kernels
However, there was not much trading in shelled groundnut kernels, due to which their prices remained at the previous levels in most markets. Demand from crushers, processors, and exporters was limited.
Groundnut Oil
The price of loose groundnut oil remained stable at the previous level of Rs. 1500 per 10 kg in Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh, and Jamnagar in Gujarat, while in other markets, a fluctuation of Rs. 2-3 per kg was observed.
Branded Oil
The price of branded groundnut oil remained stable in Kota. Groundnut prices are expected to improve somewhat in the coming days.
