Groundnut prices firm in Rajkot; soft in UP
New Delhi: Amidst normal arrivals and limited trading, groundnut prices in Uttar Pradesh fell by ₹400 during the week of September 5–11. However, in Rajkot, Gujarat, prices rose by ₹500 to reach ₹6,000–₹9,000 per quintal due to some buying activity. Groundnut prices were recorded at ₹6,000–₹6,400 per quintal in Mahoba and ₹5,800–₹6,200 per quintal in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh.
Groundnut Kernels
Prices for shelled groundnut kernels remained steady in Bikaner due to a balance between supply and demand; however, prices increased by ₹100–₹200 per quintal in Solapur and Nagpur (Maharashtra) driven by demand from oil millers and exporters.
Groundnut Oil
The price of loose groundnut oil rose by ₹50 to ₹1,750 per 10 kg in Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh, and Jamnagar (Gujarat), while the price of a 'Teliya' tin (15 kg) increased by ₹70 to reach ₹2,770. Prices also rose by ₹30 to ₹50 per 10 kg in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. Demand for groundnut oil was observed to be strong across various centers.
Branded Oil
However, the price of branded groundnut oil in Kota remained stable at ₹2,950 per tin (15 liters), and no significant change was observed in the prices of filtered groundnut oil in Jaipur and Newai. Sowing of the Kharif groundnut crop has largely concluded, though the total acreage lags slightly behind.
