Lentil prices fall due to sluggish demand

Mumbai. During the current week, the trend of decline in lentil prices continued. The selling pressure from stockists is increasing in the market, while the demand at the consumer level remains sluggish. Due to both these factors, lentil prices are not getting any kind of support. According to traders, there is a continuous weakness in the retail demand of lentil dal, due to which the buying of dal millers has also cooled down to a great extent. As a result, instead of increasing, the prices of lentil have come under more pressure. Due to sluggish demand, no increase or decrease was seen in the prices of imported lentil this week and the prices at the weekend remained Mundra 5950 rupees, Hazira 6000/6025 rupees and container Canada 6150/6200 rupees and Australia 6150/6200 rupees per quintal. While the prices of Kolkata Masoor also improved by Rs. 25 per quintal this week and remained at Canada Rs. 6100 and Australia Rs. 6200 per quintal at the weekend.
Delhi
Due to sluggish buying by dal millers and stockists, Delhi Masoor prices witnessed a decline of Rs. 25/50 per quintal this week and with this decline, the prices remained at Choti Kota Rs. 6675, Bundi Rs. 6875, Uttar Pradesh Rs. 6975 and Desi Badi Rs. 6700/6725 per quintal at the weekend.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to slow buying by stockists and dal millers, prices of masoor in Madhya Pradesh declined by Rs 100/200 per quintal this week as well and with this decline the prices at the weekend remained at Ashoknagar Rs 6100/6200, Bina Rs 6000/6300, Sagar Rs 6000/6300, Damoh Rs 6150/6600, Indore Rs 6050/6100, Kareli Rs 4850/6440 and Katni Rs 6650 per quintal.
Uttar Pradesh
Due to increase in selling and slow buying, during the current week, Uttar Pradesh lentil prices witnessed a decline of Rs 50/100 per quintal and the weekend prices remained at Bareilly Chhoti Rs 6700/7000, Moti Rs 6700/6750, Kanpur Rs 6575/6600, Lalitpur Moti Rs 6200/6250, Chhoti Rs 6500/6600 and Orai Rs 5800/6100 per quintal.
Others
Due to the impact of all-round decline and lack of demand, no rise or fall was seen in Bihar lentil prices this week and the weekend prices remained stable at Barh Rs 6500, Khusrupur Rs 6400 and Mokama Rs 6500 per quintal. Similarly, no movement was seen in Raipur lentil prices this week and the weekend prices remained stable at Rs 6275/6300 per quintal.
Masoor Dal
Due to weak demand, prices of Masoor Dal witnessed a decline of Rs. 50/100 per quintal during the current week and the prices remained at Rs. 7500/7600 in Indore, Rs. 7400/7700 in Barh and Rs. 7300/7600 per quintal in Khusrupur at the weekend.
