Lentil prices improve due to increased demand

Mumbai. During the current week, lentil prices have improved. Despite the fall in lentil prices in recent days, selling has weakened, while demand has improved at the consumer level. Farmers and traders have started holding stocks at low prices, which has limited the supply in the market. On the other hand, there was an increase in buying by dal millers and wholesale buyers, which supported lentil prices. Due to weakening of importer selling, imported lentil prices improved by Rs 50 per quintal this week and at the weekend the price became Mundra Rs 5950, Hazira Rs 6025, container Canada Rs 6175 and Australia Rs 6175/6200 per quintal. Similarly, Kolkata lentil prices also improved by Rs 25 per quintal this week and at the weekend the price became Canada Rs 6100 and Australia Rs 6150 per quintal.
Delhi
Due to buying by dal millers and stockists, Delhi lentil prices witnessed a rise of Rs. 50/75 per quintal this week and the weekend prices became Choti Kota Rs. 6700, Bundi Rs. 6950, Uttar Pradesh Rs. 7050 and Desi Badi Rs. 6725 per quintal.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to increased buying, Madhya Pradesh lentil prices witnessed a rise of Rs. 50/100 per quintal this week also and the weekend prices remained Ashoknagar Rs. 6100/6150, Bina Rs. 6100/6350, Sagar Rs. 6000/6300, Damoh Rs. 5600/6650, Indore Rs. 6000, Kareli Rs. 4551/6300 and Katni Rs. 6600/6625 per quintal.
Uttar Pradesh
Due to increase in selling and slow buying, no increase or decrease was observed in the prices of lentils in Uttar Pradesh during the current week and the prices remained stable at Bareilly Choti 7000/7050 rupees, Thick 6600/6625 rupees, Kanpur 6525/6550 rupees, Lalitpur Thick 6100/6200 rupees, Choti 6400/6500 rupees and Orai 5700/6100 rupees per quintal.
Others
Due to improvement in demand, Bihar lentil prices witnessed an increase of 100 rupees per quintal this week and with this increase, the prices became 6500 rupees, 6500 rupees, Khusrupur 6500 rupees and Mokama 6600 rupees per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, the prices of Raipur lentils also improved by 25 rupees per quintal this week and reached 6300/6325 rupees per quintal at the weekend.
Masoor Dal
Due to increased demand, prices of Masoor Dal witnessed an improvement of Rs. 50/100 per quintal during the current week and the prices reached Rs. 7500/7600 in Indore, Rs. 7400/7700 in Barh and Rs. 7300/7600 per quintal in Khusrupur at the weekend.
