Mustard prices soften due to strong arrival and limited government purchase

New Delhi. Strong arrival of new mustard goods is being done in the markets of major producing states- Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat and its quality is also being said to be very good. Although crushers-processors and traders / stockists are buying it in good quantity, but the demand and lifting is less than the supply. The central government has announced to buy mustard in huge quantities and is also fixing the purchase quantity in different states, but the process of purchase has not gained momentum yet. As a result, during the week of March 29 to April 4, the price of mustard of normal average quality was softened.
42% condition mustard
During the week under review, the price of 42% condition mustard increased by Rs. 100 to Rs. 6200 per quintal in Delhi and improved by Rs. 25 to Rs. 6300/6325 per quintal in Jaipur, but the price of normal average quality mustard decreased by Rs. 50-50 per quintal in Deesa and Dhanera of Gujarat. There was a decline of Rs. 100-110 in the markets of Haryana, while the price in Sirsa increased by Rs. 100 to Rs. 5700/6000 per quintal. The price improved by Rs. 25-50 in Morena and Porsa of Madhya Pradesh, but fell by Rs. 50 in Gwalior.
Rajasthan
There was a significant decline in the prices of mustard in the most prominent producing state- Rajasthan. There, the price in Bundi market fell by Rs. 400. Apart from this, there was a decline of Rs 137 in Bharatpur and Rs 100 per quintal in Khairthal, but Bikaner witnessed a rise of Rs 100. The price of mustard softened by Rs 50 to Rs 6300 per quintal in Hapur Mandi of Uttar Pradesh, while in Agra Mandi it remained at the previous level of Rs 6600-6800 per quintal.
Arrival
Although 5-5 lakh bags of mustard arrived in the markets of major producing states on 29 and 31 March, but on 1 April it jumped to 14 lakh bags. After this, it again decreased and got stuck at 13.25 lakh bags on 2 April, 8 lakh bags on 3 April and 7 lakh bags on 4 April.
Mustard Cake (DOC)
Due to limited trading in mustard cake and DOC, mainly softening was seen in the prices. The price of mustard cake was higher by Rs 20-40 per quintal in Delhi, but it softened in Morena of Madhya Pradesh and Bharatpur, Alwar and Khairthal of Rajasthan.
