Slight increase in mustard due to limited buying by millers and traders

New Delhi. During the week of June 14-20, mustard prices saw some increase amid normal trading in important mandis of major producing states. Although mustard is being sold by farmers as well as government agencies, prices still increased by Rs 50-100 per quintal. In most mandis, the price of mustard is running around or above the minimum support price of Rs 5950 per quintal.
42% condition mustard
The price of 42 percent condition mustard improved by Rs 50 to Rs 6600 per quintal in Delhi and increased by Rs 100 to Rs 6775/6800 per quintal in Jaipur. The price of mustard generally remained somewhat high in the mandis of Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, but in Bundi, Rajasthan, it fell by Rs 400 to Rs 5800 per quintal. In West Bengal (Kolkata), the price of mustard remained almost stable.
Mustard Oil
There was a rise of Rs. 100 in Agra and Rs. 50 in Hapur. The price of mustard oil improved by Rs. 1-2 per kg. The interesting fact is that in the last two weeks, there has been a slight decline in the prices of palm oil, soybean oil and sunflower oil as well as vegetable ghee, but the prices of mustard oil and groundnut oil remained strong.
Delhi
During the week under review, the price of expeller oil remained stable at Rs. 1405 per 10 kg in Delhi, but it increased by Rs. 12 in Charkhi Dadri, Rs. 10 each in Morena and Mumbai, Rs. 5 in Ludhiana, Rs. 20 in Ganganagar and Rs. 20 per 10 kg in Alwar. The price of Kachi Ghani mustard oil also kept increasing.
Arrival
Arrival of mustard in the markets of major producing states was 4 lakh bags on 14 June, 5 lakh bags each on 16 and 17 June, 4.70 lakh bags each on 18 and 19 June and 4.50 lakh bags on 20 June.
Mustard Cake (DOC)
As far as mustard cake/DOC is concerned, its export demand in China remains good but has weakened in other countries. Due to limited trading, not much fluctuation was seen in the price of mustard cake/DOC during the week of 14-20 June.
