Mustard prices improve due to strong demand from millers and traders
New Delhi. The price of mustard remained strong by Rs 50-100 per quintal during the week of 21-27 June on the back of strong demand from millers and traders along with normal arrivals in important wholesale markets of major producing states. The interesting fact is that the price of mustard in most of the markets is higher than the minimum support price (Rs 5950 per quintal) and hence the government agencies did not need to make huge purchases of it. There is little possibility of it softening in the future.
42% condition mustard
During the week under review, the price of 42 percent condition mustard, although fell by Rs 100 to Rs 6500 per quintal in Delhi, but increased by Rs 100 to Rs 6925/6950 per quintal in Jaipur.
Gujarat / MP / Haryana
Gujarat's mandis also remained somewhat soft, but in various mandis of Haryana and Madhya Pradesh, mustard prices rose by Rs 100-200 per quintal. In Sirsa, Haryana, the price rose by Rs 200 to Rs 6400 per quintal. There was a rise of Rs 100 in Morena, Porsa and Gwalior mandis of Madhya Pradesh.
Rajasthan
Similarly, in the most prominent producing state- Rajasthan, the price of mustard was seen to be 50-100 rupees per quintal higher. Only in Bikaner, the price of mustard remained stable at Rs 4500/5000 per quintal, much below the minimum support price. The price of mustard was recorded at Rs 6900 per quintal in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh and Rs 7200/7550 per quintal in Agra.
Mustard oil
With the improvement in mustard prices, a good increase was also recorded in the prices of mustard oil expeller and Kachi Ghani. The price of expeller increased by Rs 35 to Rs 1445 per 10 kg in Delhi, Rs 45 to Rs 1445 per 10 kg in Jaipur and Rs 55 to Rs 1480 per 10 kg in Bharatpur.
Arrival
In the markets of major producing states, 4 lakh bags of mustard arrived on June 21, 4.75-4.75 lakh bags on June 23-24, 3.85 lakh bags on June 25 and 4.50-4.50 lakh bags on June 26 and 27, which can be considered normal for this time. Each bag of mustard weighs 50 kg.
Mustard Cake (DOC)
Due to limited trading in mustard cake, prices witnessed a mixed trend. In Delhi, its price remained soft by 10-20 rupees per quintal but improved by 15 rupees in Jaipur. The price of mustard DOC in a plant in Kota improved by 200 rupees and reached 15300 rupees per ton. There is a good demand for mustard cake in China.
