New Delhi. Due to good demand from crushers-processors and traders, the domestic market price of mustard increased by Rs 100 to Rs 300 per quintal during the week of 30 August-5 September.

The most important producer state - In Rajasthan, except Bundi, a good increase was recorded in the price of mustard in all other major mandis. The price of mustard in Bundi fell by Rs 400 to Rs 6300/6700 per quintal. On the other hand, its price was up by Rs 363 in Ganganagar and Rs 100 in Bharatpur. Alwar also saw a rise of Rs 200.

The rise in mustard prices also affected its oil. The prices of both categories of mustard oil - expeller and Kachi Ghani - increased by Rs 30 to Rs 60 per 10 kg. In Delhi, expeller reached Rs 1535 per kg with an increase of Rs 45. Similarly, in Bharatpur, the prices of mustard oil of both categories saw an increase of Rs 70-70. Mustard oil prices also rose in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. There is a good demand for it in the domestic segment.

The pace of supply of mustard has slowed down in the major producing states and government agencies are also selling it in limited quantities. The demand of millers remains strong. The peak festive season is about to come. If the pace of arrival in the markets does not increase, then the prices of mustard and its oil may increase further.

The price of mustard cake also increased by Rs 100-150 per quintal during the week under review. Importers from China are showing interest in its purchase. The price of mustard cake in Delhi was recorded between Rs 2560 and Rs 2850 per quintal.
