Paddy and rice prices improved due to some buying by millers and exporters
New Delhi. There is negligible arrival of general category paddy in important wholesale markets of major producing states, but due to the supply of Basmati paddy and 'A' grade non-Basmati paddy, some business is happening in it.
Delhi
During the week of 24 to 30 May, between 4000 to 8000 bags of paddy arrived daily in Delhi's Narela Mandi, but due to less business, the price of 1509 hands fell by Rs 70 to Rs 3020 per quintal.
Chhattisgarh
On the other hand, daily arrival of 10-12 thousand bags of paddy was recorded in Bhatpara Mandi of Chhattisgarh, but only the price of Mahamaya paddy improved by Rs 100 to Rs 2200/2300 per quintal. / With daily arrival of 8 to 12 thousand bags in Rajim Mandi, the price of BPT paddy increased by Rs 120 to Rs 2050 per quintal.
Uttar Pradesh
Limited quantity of paddy is arriving in Mainpuri, Shahjahanpur and Aligarh of Uttar Pradesh and due to slow business, the price is either stable or has softened a bit. Good supply of paddy is being received in Bundi and Kota Mandi of Rajasthan. During the week under review, 10-15 thousand bags of paddy arrived in Bundi Mandi in the first two days of the week and later it got stuck at 5-6 thousand bags. Due to good demand from millers and exporters, an improvement of 50-100 rupees per quintal was recorded in the price there. Similarly, with the average daily arrival of 5000-6000 bags of paddy in Kota market, its price increased by Rs. 100-200 per quintal. In Maharashtra's Gondiya market, 3000 bags of paddy are arriving daily.
Rice
As far as rice is concerned, there is some demand from exporters and Disawari traders. Due to this, stability or increase in prices is being seen. During the week under review, the price of 1509 Sela rice in Amritsar increased by Rs. 150 to Rs. 6100/6150 and 1718 Sela Dama jumped by Rs. 100 to Rs. 6500/6550 per quintal.
Uttarakhand
In the Nagar Mandi of Uttarakhand, the price of 1121 Sela, 1509 Sela and 1509 Steam rice increased by 100-200 rupees per quintal, while the price of some other rice was 50-100 rupees higher. The price of rice increased by 100 to 300 rupees per quintal in Bundi of Rajasthan, Karnal of Haryana and Naya Bazar of Delhi.
