Good Supply and Weak Demand Lower Peanut Prices in Uttar Pradesh
New Delhi. Daily arrivals of Kharif peanuts in Uttar Pradesh markets are increasing, but lack of corresponding purchases led to a decline in prices during the week of November 29th to December 5th. The situation was similar in Gondal Mandi, Gujarat. However, weak demand in Rajkot led to farmers reducing their supply, leading to a rise in prices there.
Arrivals
During the week under review, peanut arrivals in Gondal Mandi, Gujarat, jumped to 85,000 bags on December 1st, and 70,000 bags were recorded on December 5th. Consequently, prices fell by ₹50 to ₹6,250/₹6,700 per quintal. On the other hand, in Rajkot, arrivals initially increased to 30,000 bags, but later declined to 2,000-3,000 bags. As a result, peanut prices rose by ₹250 to ₹6,000/₹7,750 per quintal. Peanut prices remained stable at ₹5,500 per quintal in Bikaner, while they improved by ₹100 to ₹7,600 in Solapur. In Jhansi Mandi, Uttar Pradesh, prices fell by ₹200 to ₹5,200/₹5,800 per quintal amid an average daily supply of 15,000 to 25,000 bags. In Mauranipur, prices fell by ₹200 to ₹5,000/₹5,800 per quintal, and in Mahoba Mandi, they fell by ₹600 to ₹5,200/₹5,800 per quintal.
Peanut Seeds
Prices remained unchanged due to limited trade in Bikaner and Jodhpur, but heavy buying by millers and exporters in Solapur and Nagpur, Maharashtra, led to a sharp increase of up to ₹900 per quintal. Prices rose by ₹500 in Solapur and ₹900 per quintal in Nagpur.
Groundnut Oil
However, demand for loose groundnut oil remained weak, causing prices to fall by ₹25 to ₹1,500 per 10 kg in Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh, and Jamnagar in Gujarat. Similarly, the price of a 15 kg tin of oil in Rajkot also fell by ₹75 to ₹2,315. Prices also remained soft in other centers, including Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Bikaner.
Branded Oil
Branded oil prices remained stable at ₹2,350 per tin (15 liters) in Kota, Rajasthan.
