Pea prices continue to fluctuate due to limited demand

Kanpur. During the current week, pea prices witnessed a bullish and bearish trend due to limited demand. However, in a recent notification issued by the government, the deadline for duty-free import of peas has now been extended to 31 March 2026. This decision has created an atmosphere of disappointment among domestic traders and farmers. Market experts believe that increasing the import deadline will increase pressure on domestic supply and it may take time for prices to stabilize. If there is no major change in domestic demand in the coming months, further decline in prices is possible. Due to limited buying, no rise or fall was seen in the prices of imported peas during the current week and the prices remained at Mumbai Canada Rs 3725 Russia Rs 3575 and currency Canada Rs 3550 and Russia Rs 3450 per quintal at the weekend. While Kolkata peas also increased by Rs 50 per quintal this week and remained at Canada Rs 3950 and Russia Rs 3850 per quintal at the weekend. Due to sluggish demand, prices of Kanpur peas declined by Rs 25 per quintal this week and with this decline, the prices remained at Rs 3825/50 per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, Lalitpur peas also witnessed a decrease of Rs 50 per quintal this week and the prices remained at Rs 3300/3600 per quintal at the weekend. Due to lack of demand, prices of Rath and Mahoba peas declined by Rs 50 per quintal this week and with this decline, the prices remained at Rs 3200/3300 and Mahoba Rs 3400/3800 per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, Jalaun peas also fell by Rs. 40 and Konch by Rs. 30 per quintal and remained at Jalaun Rs. 3430 and Konch Rs. 3382 per quintal at the end of the week. Due to improvement in demand, the prices of peas in Madhya Pradesh increased by Rs. 50/100 per quintal this week and the prices remained at Damoh Rs. 3425/3600 and Bina Rs. 3400/3550 per quintal at the end of the week.
Pea dal
Due to increase in sporadic buying, the prices of pea dal saw an improvement of Rs. 50 per quintal during the current week and the prices at the end of the week became Kanpur Rs. 3950/4000 and Indore Rs. 4000/4100 per quintal.
