Soybean prices saw limited gains due to some buying at lower prices.
New Delhi. Continued government procurement at the minimum support price in Maharashtra led to a general increase of ₹40-₹60 per quintal during the week of November 29th - December 5th, while in Madhya Pradesh, prices improved due to lower buying by millers.
Plant Prices
Plant delivery prices of soybeans improved to ₹45-₹75 per quintal in Madhya Pradesh and ₹4,700 per quintal in Maharashtra, but remained well below the minimum support price of ₹5,328 per quintal. Heavy imports of cheap soybean oil from abroad are putting pressure on the domestic market, while markets in major producing states are also seeing good arrivals of soybeans.
Arrivals
Nationally, soybean arrivals reached 7.25 lakh bags on December 3rd, but declined to 6.20 lakh bags on December 4th and 4.90 lakh bags on December 5th. Each bag weighs 100 kg (1 quintal).
Soybean Meal (DOC)
Soybean DOC trading declined in Madhya Pradesh while improving in Maharashtra. Prices in Maharashtra witnessed a mixed trend, ranging from a decline of ₹200-300 per tonne to an increase of ₹1,500 per tonne.
Soybean Oil (Refined)
However, refined soybean oil prices did not fluctuate significantly and remained largely stable, with increases of ₹5-10 per 10 kg in some areas. Refined soybean oil prices rose by ₹100 to ₹1,250 per 10 kg in Mumbai, while they remained stable at ₹1,280 in Kota and ₹1,245 per 10 kg in Kandla. In the near future, the plant delivery price of soybean oil may fluctuate within a certain range.
