Soybean prices fluctuate moderately due to limited trading
New Delhi. It appears that the psychological impact of the trade agreement with the United States continues to have an impact on the Indian soybean market, and as a result, crushers and processors are not incentivized to purchase soybeans at higher prices. The rise in soybean prices during December-January is now gradually softening.
Plant Prices
During the week of February 14-20, the plant delivery price of soybeans fluctuated in the three top producing states – Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. In Madhya Pradesh, it declined to ₹5,300-₹5,400 per quintal. In Maharashtra, the price remained slightly higher. In Rajasthan, the price declined by ₹150 per quintal.
Soybean Oil (Refined)
However, some improvement was recorded in the price of soybean refined oil, ranging from ₹1.50-₹2.00 per kg. The price of refined soybean oil in Kota and Kandla increased by ₹20 each to ₹1,390 and ₹1,350 per 10 kg, respectively, but fell by ₹30 to ₹1,350 per 10 kg in Mumbai. Crude soybean oil prices remained firm in the global market.
Soybean Meal
Soybean meal export performance was weak in January, the impact of which is still being felt in the domestic market. The expected import of DDGS from the US is putting pressure on soybean prices.
Arrivals
Arrivals of 200,000 bags of soybean arrived in the markets of major producing states on February 16th, which declined to 95,000 bags on February 17th, but increased again to 200,000 bags on February 18th.
