Urad prices fall due to weak buying

 

Chennai. Urad prices declined during the current week due to increased selling and weak demand. Due to sluggish demand for urad dal and urad gota, the buying of urad by dal millers remained limited, due to which pressure is being seen on prices. With the arrival of new crop in Myanmar, the quantity and pace of its export shipment is increasing. Latest data from leading trade body - Overseas Agri Trade Association (OATA) shows that 80,266 tonnes of urad was exported from Myanmar in January 2025, which improved to 80,784 tonnes in February and increased to 1,00,755 tonnes in March. Due to increasing imports, the availability of Urad remained intact at the port. Due to increased availability and increased selling by importers, Chennai Urad prices declined by Rs. 100/175 per quintal this week and with this decline, the price remained at Rs. 7250 per quintal for FAQ and Rs. 7800 per quintal for SQ at the end of the week. Similarly, Mumbai Urad prices also witnessed a decline of Rs. 50 per quintal this week and with this decline, the price remained at Rs. 7350 per quintal.

Burma

Due to weakening of selling by exporters and increase in buying, Burma Urad FAQ increased by $ 5 and SQ also increased by $ 5 per tonne during the current week and with this increase, the price of FAQ increased to $ 815 per tonne and SQ to $ 895 per tonne at the end of the week. Delhi

Due to the impact of the port's fall and weak buying by the dal millers, the price of urad in Delhi has declined by Rs. 50/75 per quintal this week. And with this fall, the price remained at Rs. 7600 for FAQ and Rs. 8250/8275 per quintal for SQ at the end of the week.

Madhya Pradesh

Due to weak demand, the price of urad in Madhya Pradesh has declined by Rs. 50/100 per quintal during the current week and with this fall, the price remained at Rs. 4000/7300 in Jabalpur, Rs. 4800/7100 in Damoh, Rs. 5000/6500 in Tikamgarh and Rs. 7000/7700 per quintal in Indore at the end of the week.

Maharashtra

Due to the sluggish demand from the dal millers, the price of urad in Maharashtra has declined by Rs. 50/75 per quintal this week. And with this fall in prices at the weekend, the prices remained at Rs. 7600 in Akola, Rs. 7000/7200 in Latur, Rs. 7250/7550 in Jalgaon, Rs. 6000/7000 in Barshi and Rs. 5000/7100 per quintal in Ahmednagar.

Others

Due to the impact of all-round fall and weak demand, the prices of urad in Krishna district and Vijayawada witnessed a fall of Rs. 50/100 per quintal and at the weekend the prices remained at Rs. 7600 in Krishna district and Rs. 7600/7700 per quintal in Vijayawada.

Urad Dal

Due to the fall in the price of Urad and the sluggish demand, the prices of Urad Dal witnessed a fall of Rs. 100/200 per quintal this week and the prices at the end of the week remained at Rs. 9450/10800 in Delhi, Rs. 9900 in Bhatapara, Rs. 10300 in Jalgaon, Rs. 8300/8900 in Meerut and Rs. 9400/13100 per quintal in Indore.
