According to the March Intentions report released this morning, total wheat planted area is estimated at 43.775 million acres. This is 905,000 acres below trade estimates and 1.553 million acres lower than last year.
Winter wheat area is estimated at 32.41 million acres, which is 580,000 acres below the Winter Wheat Seedings report and 743,000 acres lower than last year. Spring wheat area is estimated at 9.415 million acres, which is 428,000 acres below estimates and 485,000 acres lower than a year ago. Durum wheat area is estimated at 1.95 million acres.
According to the Grain Stocks report, wheat stocks as of March 1 were recorded at 1.3 billion bushels. This is 63 million bushels higher than last year, although it is 10 million bushels below the average trade estimate from Reuters.
