New Delhi: Due to robust arrivals and subdued demand, wheat prices in Indore have softened slightly, while a mixed trend was observed in prices across major markets at the national level. Conversely, maize prices remained largely stable.

According to trade analysts, industrial demand for maize is expected to remain strong in the near future; specifically, manufacturers of ethanol, starch, and poultry feed are likely to show keen interest in procuring it, which could lead to a moderate uptick in maize prices. Given the significantly high prices of soy meal, the demand for maize for use in cattle and poultry feed is also expected to rise.

In Indore today, wheat prices dropped by ₹100 to settle at ₹2,580 per quintal. Farmers are showing interest in offloading their stocks to generate the necessary funds for purchasing inputs required for the upcoming Kharif crop cultivation.

Arrivals are expected to remain robust in the region in the near future, which could keep prices under continued pressure. Meanwhile, in Kota, Rajasthan, wheat prices remained stable within the range of ₹2,375 to ₹2,400 per quintal.
