The World Bank has approved a funding of $325.1 million for agriculture projects in Uttar Pradesh, aimed at boosting farmers' incomes through improved crop yields, digital integration, and climate-resistant agricultural practices.

This initiative, named the Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Growth and Rural Enterprise Ecosystem Strengthening (UP AGRISE) project, is set to benefit 1 million farmers across the state, particularly in the eastern and Bundelkhand regions.

The project focuses on addressing challenges like low crop productivity and inadequate post-harvest facilities, while also enhancing access to modern agricultural technology and financial resources.

Uttar Pradesh, a leading agricultural hub in India, is the top producer of wheat, rice, peas, and sugarcane, and has seen increasing exports in recent years.

However, small farmers in the state face significant challenges such as outdated infrastructure, limited access to loans, and high costs for modern farming tools.

The World Bank's investment is expected to alleviate these issues, helping farmers increase productivity and modernize their operations, thus improving their overall economic conditions.
