79 lakh tonnes of mustard arrival expected in five months

Jaipur. The arrival of mustard in the mandis of major producing states has started decreasing, while farmers still have a good stock of it. Anil Chatar, Managing Director of Marudhar Trading Agency, a reliable establishment located in the grain market of Chandpole,
Jaipur, has estimated a total arrival of 79 lakh tonnes of mustard in the producing mandis and at government procurement centers during the first five months of the current marketing season (March-February) of 2024-25.
Under this, 15.50 lakh tonnes arrived in the mandis and 10 thousand tonnes at the procurement centers in March 2024, 15 lakh tonnes and 13.80 lakh tonnes in April, 11 lakh tonnes and 5.60 lakh tonnes in May and 9 lakh tonnes and 50 thousand tonnes in June.
During the month of July, 8.50 lakh tonnes of mustard reached the mandis, but its arrival at government procurement centers stopped.
In this way, during these five months, 59 lakh tonnes of mustard was supplied to the producing markets and 20 lakh tonnes to the government procurement centres.
Industry trade organizations have estimated a total production of 123 lakh tonnes of mustard in the Rabi season of 2023-24, which includes a possible production of 53 lakh tonnes in Rajasthan,
18 lakh tonnes in Uttar Pradesh, 16 lakh tonnes in Madhya Pradesh, 12 lakh tonnes in Punjab-Haryana, 5 lakh tonnes in Gujarat and 19 lakh tonnes in other states including Bengal-Bihar. Out of this total production of 123 lakh tonnes,
7 lakh tonnes arrived in February 2024 and 116 lakh tonnes of mustard was available for the marketing season of 2024-25.
On March 1, 2024, about 12 lakh tonnes of old stock of mustard was present, due to which its total availability for the marketing season increased to 128 lakh tonnes.
NAFED / HAFED had a previous stock of 7.50 lakh tonnes of mustard while with the purchase of 20 lakh tonnes during the season, the total stock increased to 27.50 lakh tonnes.
Out of this, 25 thousand tonnes have been sold. As far as the producers are concerned, after selling 79 lakh tonnes out of the original production of 116 lakh tonnes,
they had a stock of 37 lakh tonnes of mustard left on August 1, 2024. Similarly, out of the total arrival of 59 lakh tonnes, 54.50 lakh tonnes of mustard was crushed and a stock of 4.50 lakh tonnes remained.
