Des Moines. Earlier, most of the soybean imports in China were from America, but since the last seven-eight years, Brazil has taken over the soybean market of China, due to which America is now forced to look for new markets.

America has also fallen behind Brazil in soybean production and export and has come to the second position. Argentina is stable at the third position.

According to trade analysts, America is also eyeing India for soybean exports, but it is difficult for soybean imports to increase significantly in the near future because enough soybean is being produced in India at present to meet the domestic demand and requirement of soymeal.

Apart from this, another problem is that mainly GM category soybean is produced in America, whereas its import is banned in India.

It is possible that India may see an increase in soybean oil imports from America. However, only soybean oil is produced in India right now.

It is also a fact that India does not produce a huge surplus of soybean and its production has remained almost stable in a certain range for the last several years. As a result, many times India's poultry industry is forced to import soymeal from abroad.

But India is still far from becoming an alternative to China, so America will have to focus on many other markets. In future, when the Indian poultry sector grows and expands rapidly and the domestic production of soybean does not increase in accordance with it, then its import may increase.

Soybean imports may increase in Pakistan and America has intensified its efforts there. America's target is also an African country - Algeria, where soybean imports can increase significantly.
