Area of millet, urad, sesame, soybean, cotton and guar reduced in Rajasthan

Jaipur. In Rajasthan, an important agricultural producing state located in the western part of the country, although there has been some increase in the production area of crops like paddy,
jowar, maize, green gram and groundnut during the current Kharif season as compared to last year, but due to a sharp decline in the sowing of millet, urad, moth, choula,
sesame, soybean, cotton and guar etc., the total production area of Kharif crops has come down by about 9.68 lakh hectares from 154.61 lakh hectares to 144.93 lakh hectares till July 29. In the season 2023-24, Kharif crops were cultivated in a total of 162.88 lakh hectares there.
According to the latest weekly data of the state agriculture department, the production of paddy and coarse grains in Rajasthan during the current Kharif season has decreased from 62.71 lakh hectares to 59.71 lakh hectares as compared to last year. Under this,
the area of paddy increased from 2.34 lakh hectares to 2.68 lakh hectares, the area of sorghum improved from 6.14 lakh hectares to 6.32 lakh hectares and the area of maize increased from 9.40 lakh hectares to 9.51 lakh hectares,
but the production area of millet fell from 44.75 lakh hectares to 41.18 lakh hectares. Sowing of crops is going on in some areas.
The total production area of pulses crops fell from 34.06 lakh hectares to 32.98 lakh hectares this time. Under this, the sowing area of moong improved from 21.37 lakh hectare to 21.63 lakh hectare but the area of moth reduced from 8.78 lakh hectare to 7.78 lakh hectare,
the sowing area of black gram increased to 3.18 lakh hectare and the area of choula slipped from 63 thousand hectare to 54 thousand hectare.
The area of oilseed crops also reduced from 22.90 lakh hectare to 21.67 lakh hectare. Under this, the production area of groundnut increased from 7.97 lakh hectare to 8.41 lakh hectare but the sowing area of soybean reduced from 11.42 lakh hectare to 10.97 lakh hectare,
the area of sesame fell from 2.27 lakh hectare to 1.94 lakh hectare and the sowing area of castor declined from 1.24 lakh hectare to 35 thousand hectare.
Apart from this, the production area of cotton decreased from 7.83 lakh hectares to 5.04 lakh hectares and the area of guar fell from 23.40 lakh hectares to 22.10 lakh hectares.
