New Delhi. Due to softening global market prices, the average import prices of crude and refined edible oils, especially those in the palm oil category, declined at Indian ports during November 2025 compared to October. Soybean oil and sunflower oil import prices also saw a slight decrease.
According to available data, the average unit import price at ports in November, compared to October, decreased from $1106 per ton to $1049 per ton for RBD palmolein and from $1148 per ton to $1096 per ton for crude palm oil.
Similarly, the average import price of crude degummed soybean oil fell from $1181 to $1175 per ton, and that of crude sunflower oil slipped from $1323 to $1322 per ton. Imports plummeted to 3500 tons, compared to 5000 tons in October and over 285,000 tons in November 2024.
The widening difference in import duties between crude and refined edible oils is causing a rapid decline in RBD palmolein imports into India. In November 2025, only a small quantity was imported from Indonesia, while no palmolein was imported from Malaysia and Thailand.
Similarly, imports of crude degummed soybean oil and crude sunflower oil also declined in November 2025 compared to October. Only crude palm oil imports saw a slight increase. The significant depreciation of the rupee is making edible oil imports more expensive.
Previously, in November 2024, the average import prices were recorded as $1233 per ton for RBD palmolein, $1269 per ton for crude palm oil (CPO), $1219 per ton for crude degummed soybean oil, and $1265 per ton for crude sunflower oil.
