2025–26 (Outlook)
★ Lentil production in Canada is estimated to rise by 38% to around 3.4 million tonnes, supported by increases in both area and yields compared with last year.
★ Large green lentil output is estimated at about 1.0 million tonnes, red lentil production at nearly 1.8 million tonnes, and other lentil types at around 0.6 million tonnes. India primarily imports red lentils, and red lentil production has increased only marginally compared with last year.
★ With higher opening stocks, total supply is expected to be 47% higher year-on-year. Exports are forecast to rise to around 2.1 million tonnes.
★ Carry-out stocks are projected to increase sharply.
★ Prices across all lentil types remain under pressure, with the average price down 35% at around 510 dollars per tonne.

November 2025 (Canada – Saskatchewan)
★ On-farm prices for No.1 large green and red lentils declined by about 10 dollars per tonne.
★ The premium of large green lentils over red lentils is expected to average around 100 dollars per tonne, compared with 465 dollars per tonne last year.

United States (2025–26)
★ Lentil seeded area is estimated to increase by 15% to about 1.1 million acres.
★ Production is forecast to rise by 23% to around 0.5 million tonnes.

Market Trends
★ Buying and selling activity remains subdued. Large green lentils (No.2) are trading at 25–27 cents per pound, small green lentils (No.1) at 20–22 cents per pound, and red lentils at 21–22.8 cents per pound.

★ With ample supply, lentil markets remain soft.
★ India imported about 0.312 million tonnes of lentils during April–October this year, down from about 0.5 million tonnes in the same period last year.
★ Lentil sowing is currently underway in India, with acreage expected to remain similar to last year.
★ In Australia, lentil production has also increased, but low prices are discouraging farmers from selling.
★ If imports decline further, prices in India could firm up ahead of the arrival of the new crop.
