CCI Cuts Cotton Sale Price Again; MSP Procurement at 98.9 Lakh Bales
★ The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has reduced the sale price of cotton for the 2025-26 crop by ₹700–1,100 per candy (356 kg). This is the second price cut within two weeks, aimed at boosting sales. Earlier, on February 10, prices were reduced by ₹1,400–1,700 per candy.
★ Meanwhile, procurement at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) has reached 98.9 lakh bales (170 kg each). Procurement operations are still ongoing in Maharashtra and Telangana.
★ Market prices are currently ₹500–1,000 below CCI’s rates, attracting buyers toward the open market. Imported cotton from Brazil is also available at ports at ₹52,000–54,000 per candy, lower than domestic prices.
★ The Cotton Association of India (CAI) has estimated the 2025-26 cotton production at 317 lakh bales and consumption at 305 lakh bales. Year-end stocks are projected at 122.59 lakh bales, up 56% compared to last year.
