New Delhi:  Currently, there is no inflow of rice and wheat into the central pool, while withdrawals continue under various programs and schemes.

As a result, the stock of food grains in the central pool decreased by 33.90 lakh tonnes from 643.18 lakh tonnes on November 1st to 609.28 lakh tonnes on December 1st, 2025.

This included a decrease in rice stock from 335.91 lakh tonnes to 311.87 lakh tonnes (a reduction of 24.04 lakh tonnes) and a decrease in wheat stock from 307.27 lakh tonnes to 297.41 lakh tonnes (a reduction of 9.86 lakh tonnes).

However, the 609.28 lakh tonnes of food grains available on December 1st, 2025, was 123 lakh tonnes more than the stock of 486.28 lakh tonnes on December 1st, 2024, and 233.75 lakh tonnes more than the stock of 375.53 lakh tonnes available in December 2023.

In addition, the stock of paddy in the central pool increased to 393.79 lakh tonnes on December 1st, 2025, which is 84.72 lakh tonnes more than the stock of 809.07 lakh tonnes on November 1st, 2025,

and 42.50 lakh tonnes more than the stock of 351.29 lakh tonnes on December 1st, 2024.  Due to the strong government procurement of Kharif paddy, the stock in the central pool is expected to continue increasing in the coming period.

This procured paddy stock is being allocated to rice millers/shellers for custom milling, and the supply of custom-milled rice (CMR) to the central pool is expected to begin soon.

Wheat arrivals will commence in April 2026. The stock of coarse grains in the central pool decreased from 2.04 lakh tonnes to 1.09 lakh tonnes.
