So far in October, the average closing price for the December contract has been $4.20, with only five trading days remaining. This is slightly higher than last year’s crop insurance harvest price of $4.16 but 50 cents lower than the February price.
On Thursday evening, President Trump posted that he had ended trade talks with Canada due to Canada’s unauthorized use of a former President Reagan speech related to tariffs. It was not made clear when or if trade talks would resume. Canada has been a major buyer of U.S. ethanol.
Argentina’s corn crop was estimated at 33.8%, up 3.9% from the previous week, according to the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange.
