Decision to continue the sale of Bharat brand flour and rice

New Delhi. With the aim of controlling domestic food inflation, the Central Government had implemented a scheme to start retail sale of flour and rice at subsidized prices under the Bharat brand name.
Earlier its deadline was fixed till June 30, 2024, but now as expected, it has been announced to continue further. But the retail price of this flour and rice has been revised for the new stock.
According to the new order, the retail price of Bharat flour has been increased by about 9.09 percent from Rs 27.50 per kg to Rs 30 per kg. Similarly, the retail price of Bharat brand rice has been increased by 17.24 percent from Rs 28 per kg to Rs 34 per kg. On the other hand, additional subsidy has been arranged for the agencies.
Now the government will provide a subsidy of Rs 2.35 per kg for Bharat flour on the issue price of wheat.
The issue price of Food Corporation of India's wheat has been fixed at Rs 2300 per quintal but for Bharat Atta its buyers will have to pay Rs 2065 per quintal and the government will bear the additional cost of Rs 235 per quintal.
For this, the amount of Price Stabilization Fund (PSF) will be used. As far as Bharat Rice is concerned, the government will give a subsidy of Rs 200 per quintal for it.
The issue price of Food Corporation of India's rice has been fixed at Rs 2400 per quintal but it will be made available to the agencies at the rate of Rs 2200 per quintal. But this subsidy will be effective on the next purchase.
The previous stock present with the agencies will have to be sold first and only after that new stock can be purchased. The price of rice and flour has been increased while the profit of the agencies will also increase due to this. The sale of flour and rice will continue in future.
