Food Corporation of India and State Agencies Purchase 120.67 Lakh MT Paddy in Punjab

A total of 126.67 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the Mandis of Punjab till 8th November 2024, out of which 120.67 lakh metric tonnes have been purchased by State Agencies and Food Corporation of India (FCI).
Paddy is being purchased at MSP of Rs.2320 per quintal fixed by Government of India for Grade ‘A’ Paddy and the total paddy purchased by the Government so far in the current KMS 2024-25 is Rs.27995 crore, benefiting about 6.58 lakh farmers in Punjab. Further, 4839 millers have applied for milling of paddy and 4743 millers have already been allotted work by the State Government of Punjab.
Procurement of paddy for Kharif marketing season 2024-25 in Punjab has started from 1st October 2024 and 2927 designated Mandis and temporary yards are operational across the state for smooth procurement from the farmers of Punjab. The Central Government has fixed an estimated target of paddy procurement of 185 lakh metric tonnes for the current Kharif marketing season 2024-25 which will continue up to 30.11.2024.
