New Delhi. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted good monsoon rains in the northwestern states of the country in the next four to five days.
Monsoon activity and mobility is expected to increase soon in most parts of this region as conditions will become favorable for it.
According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon trough is active and will gradually move forward and reach the northwestern provinces in the next four to five days.
It is known that an average orange alert for heavy rain has been issued today for many areas of northwestern India. This also includes eastern Rajasthan.
Apart from this, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Haryana, Chandigarh, western Uttar Pradesh and western Rajasthan and Uttarakhand during the current week.
There is a possibility of torrential rains in Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and western Rajasthan in the next five days, which is being felt to be very necessary.
This time the distribution of monsoon rains has been uneven in the northern states of the country. Farmers in many districts of Uttar Pradesh are eagerly waiting for rain.
Rainfall has been much less than normal in some districts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab as well. The reality is that the performance of the southwest monsoon has been weak in the northwestern part of the country so far this year and the total rainfall there since June 1 has been about 16 percent less than the normal average.
The data of the Meteorological Department shows that the concern of the government and the farmers has increased a lot due to rainfall being much less than the long period average (LPA) in Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Punjab, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh.
Sowing of Kharif crops in some important agricultural producing states is lagging much behind last year.
On the other hand, due to the monsoon becoming active in Gujarat, an orange alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in its interior parts, Saurashtra and Kutch divisions.
Similarly, heavy rains are expected in Konkan Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Ghat areas of central Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh within the next 3-4 days.
