Government Increases Sugar Export Quantity
★ As per the circular, the government has approved an additional 5 lakh tonnes of sugar exports. Earlier, approval had already been granted for 15 lakh tonnes of exports.
★ As of 31 January 2026, sugar exports stood at 1.97 lakh tonnes. Additionally, export contracts for 2.72 lakh tonnes have already been concluded.
★ The circular states that mills exporting 70% of their allocated quantity by 30 June 2026 may be considered for allocation from the additional 5 lakh tonnes quota, provided they apply 15 days in advance.
★ This additional quota will not be transferable or shared with any other mill.
