Heatwave in the North, Rains in the South

New Delhi. According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures in the northern, central, and northwestern states of the country have risen significantly, and the prevalence of intense hot winds (heatwaves or 'Loo') is likely to persist in these regions for the next few days.
This includes Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. For these states, dry weather is currently essential, as vigorous harvesting of the wheat crop is underway, and arrivals at the agricultural markets (mandis) are in full swing.
On the other hand, states in South India—Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka—are experiencing rainfall, which may extend to Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry. There is a keenly felt need for rain in these states, as water levels in their dams and reservoirs have dropped to significantly low levels.
In certain parts of Maharashtra, temperatures—having reached very high levels—are now expected to decline. Furthermore, there are prospects for good rainfall in parts of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.
