Import of 31.70 lakh tonnes of palm oil from Indonesia in the first eight months

Mumbai. During the first eight months of the marketing season i.e. from November 2023 to June 2024, a total of 100.95 lakh tonnes of edible oil was imported in the country and like before, this time also Indonesia remained the most prominent supplier country.
During the period under review, about 31.70 lakh tonnes of edible oil (palm oil) was imported from there, which included 11.73 lakh tonnes of RBD palmolein,
19.95 lakh tonnes of crude palm oil and 2 thousand tonnes of crude palm kernel oil. During the same period, 20.44 lakh tonnes of palm oil was imported from Malaysia, which included import of 2.04 lakh tonnes of RBD palmolein,
17.78 lakh tonnes of crude palm oil and 62 thousand tonnes of crude palm kernel oil. A total of about 4.29 lakh tons of edible oils were imported from Thailand including 5 thousand tons of RBD palmolein, 4 lakh tons of crude palm oil,
11 thousand tons of crude palm kernel oil and 13 thousand tons of crude soybean oil. 12.91 lakh tons of edible oil including 10.51 lakh tons of soybean oil and 2.40 lakh tons of sunflower oil were imported from the Latin American country- Argentina,
whereas a total of 6.29 lakh tons of edible oil was imported from Brazil along with 6.24 lakh tons of soybean oil and 5 thousand tons of sunflower oil.
Apart from this, about 12.66 lakh tons of edible oil was imported from Russia, 6.11 lakh tons from Romania, 3.68 lakh tons from Ukraine and 2.89 lakh tons of edible oil from other countries. Sunflower oil is mainly imported from Russia, Romania and Ukraine.
