New Delhi. The Central Food and Public Distribution Department has informed the Chairman and Managing Director of Food Corporation of India (FCI) about the decision to increase the minimum reserve price for the sale of Bharat Brand Flour and Bharat Rice in the open market under the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS).
The letter said that the Committee of Ministers, while reviewing the prices and availability of essential commodities, has decided that the sale of Bharat Flour and Rice can be continued even beyond June 30, 2024. Apart from this, the Committee of Ministers (Com) has also taken the following decisions:
1. The minimum reserve price (MRP) for Bharat Atta should be fixed at Rs 30 per kg and a subsidy of Rs 2.35 per kg should be given on the reserve price of Rs 23 per kg for wheat so that the decision of its retail sale at MRP can be ensured. In this way, the effective issue price of Food Corporation for wheat will be fixed at Rs 20.65 per kg. This price will be valid for government agencies.
2. MRP of Bharat Rice should be fixed at Rs. 34 per kg and a subsidy of Rs. 2.00 per kg should be given on it. This subsidy should be given on the reserve price of Rs. 24 per kg to ensure its sale at the fixed MRP. As a result, the effective issue price for rice will be Rs. 22 per kg.
3. The difference between the reserve price and the effective issue price will be made up from the Price Stabilization Fund (PSF). This price of rice and flour will be effective on new release orders when the old stock is sold.
