Increase in MSP for Rabi Crops Ranges from ₹25 to ₹675 per Quintal

New Delhi. The Central Government has announced a significant hike—ranging from ₹25 to ₹675 per quintal—in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for various crops to be produced during the 2026-27 Rabi season. This increase in MSP will be effective for the 2027-28 Rabi marketing season.

Official data indicates that compared to the 2025-26 season, the MSP for the 2026-27 Rabi season has been raised as follows: wheat from ₹2,585 to ₹2,610 per quintal (an increase of ₹25); barley from ₹2,150 to ₹2,286 per quintal (up by ₹136); gram (chana) from ₹5,875 to ₹5,958 per quintal (up by ₹83);

lentil (masoor) from ₹7,000 to ₹7,390 per quintal (up by ₹390); mustard/rapeseed from ₹6,200 to ₹6,613 per quintal (up by ₹413); and safflower from ₹6,540 to ₹7,215 per quintal (up by ₹675).

This hike in the MSP for Rabi crops was approved during a key meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by the Prime Minister. The sowing season for Rabi crops will formally commence on October 1, 2026. Notably, substantial increases have been made to the MSP for lentil and mustard this time.
