According to the grain stock report, a total of 8.151 billion bushels of corn were available as of March 1, which was in line with trade estimates. This was 201 million bushels less than the same period last year.
As per the NASS survey, corn planting is estimated at 95.326 million acres, exceeding the 94.4 million-acre estimate but still within the expected range. If realized, this would represent a year-over-year increase of 4.732 million acres.
According to the export inspection report, a total of 1.644 million metric tons (63.6 million bushels) of corn were exported in the week ending March 27. This was 4.97% higher than the previous week and 9.67% higher than two weeks ago.
During this period, Mexico was the top destination, receiving 407,009 metric tons of corn, followed by Japan (296,192 metric tons) and South Korea (271,656 metric tons).
So far in this marketing year, a total of 33.957 million metric tons (1.337 billion bushels) of corn have been exported, which is 31.02% more than the same period last year.
