According to Export Inspections data, corn shipments for the week ending January 15 totaled 1.484 million metric tons (58.4 million bushels). This was down 1.35% from the previous week and 3.81% lower than the same week last year. Mexico was the largest destination with 401,809 MT, followed by Colombia with 252,324 MT and Japan with 243,588 MT. Total shipments so far in the current marketing year have reached 29.92 MMT (1.178 billion bushels), up 55.46% year over year.
According to AgRural, as of last Thursday Brazil’s first corn crop harvest was 1.6% complete, while planting of the second corn crop had reached 1.1%. ANEC estimates Brazil’s corn exports for January at 3.45 MMT, up 0.18 MMT from last week’s estimate.
